Wife at All Costs v0.9
Newlyweds in games are usually boring as hell, all perfect smiles and honeymoon glow. Here it feels more like watching a pretty glass vase on the edge of the table while someone keeps nudging it with their elbow. The couple looks almost too clean at the start, that kind of generic “Pinterest wedding” vibe, but that actually works here, because the fun is watching that polish peel off. The 3D style is not hyper realistic, more like slightly plastic dolls with good lighting, and it gives this weird distance, like you are peeking at someone’s life through a shop window. Their faces sell a lot though: that half-guilty grin when she touches someone she should not, the forced smile on him when he is trying to pretend he is fine and clearly is not. You feel it in the eyes, they do that nicely.
I liked most how the camera behaves. The game loves putting you in the role of the invisible creeper in the room, hanging just far enough that you feel like a voyeur, but close enough to see fingers sneaking under clothes. There is a scene in a hallway, lights a bit too bright, where she is pressed against a wall, her hand on someone else's crotch, while you can literally see her husband blurred in the background, walking past a glass door. It feels almost funny and horrible at the same time. Third person narration works weirdly well here, like some smug narrator in your head saying “she knows this is wrong” while her hand still strokes, slowly, hesitating and then not hesitating anymore. At one point the narrator describes her chest rising with guilt while the guy just goes for a casual grope like he is choosing fruit at the market. That mismatch is… yeah. Awful. Hot. Both.
The game likes public spaces a lot. Office corridors, badly lit parking, balconies where any neighbor could look up if they felt like it. There is one balcony scene where the wind is moving her dress just enough that you see her panties when she leans over the rail and the guy behind her lets his hand wander up her thigh while they pretend to look at the view. That shook my inner art critic and my inner pervert at the same time. But then there is a café scene where the camera sits a bit too low and all you see is legs and table edge for way too long; it gets mildly annoying and then suddenly her hand disappears under the table and you remember why you are watching. Some small stuff annoyed me, like how the husband sometimes looks like a background NPC from another game, expression slightly off, like he is thinking about taxes while his wife is getting corrupted scene by scene. Styling of clothes is hit and miss too, one dress looks like it came from a mobile ad, another one looks actually classy and makes the later cheating feel more brutal. And somewhere in the middle of all this corruption, jealousy, cuckold stares and quiet gropes in crowded rooms, you realize you stopped judging them and started judging yourself, which is probably the most honest thing this messy little game pulls off.
